Appraisal

Prewar cars on public display at collector car auction

Whether your car is one-of-one or one-of-thousands, the market ascribes a value — and Perseus Motors will document it.

An appraisal is the estimation of the value of property at any given point in time, past or present. It’s a document with a valuation conclusion, not a pre-purchase inspection or recommendation to buy or sell.

Perseus Motors is one of few appraisal firms in Southern California preparing collector car appraisal reports in compliance with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Identification

The first step is determining the purpose of the appraisal. Responsible appraisers know there is no “general use” appraisal, as each report must define the type of value sought. This is crucial in establishing your report as an accurate and legally robust file.

Inspection

While not required, an in-person vehicle inspection by the appraiser is highly recommended for the most accurate estimation of value. In this area, discretion is key—no information, photos, or documentation will be shared with any third-party.

Research

Regardless of rarity, each appraised vehicle is painstakingly researched using a mix of resources. Aside from our extensive archive of physical and digital reference materials, we maintain a network of marque experts to call upon.
